Watercolors
by laurie sequana stolmakerLocals on Lake Atitlan Journey
Water taxis were the main mode of transport between all the small villages around Lake Atitlan, in Guatemala. We were often delighted to see the neighboring villagers, dressed in the unique traditional clothing of their village. This elder and her young charge were on their way to or from home with a few baskets of goods. The girl was watching out the windows of the boat in child-like wonder. In the distance we could see one of the active volcanoes puffing smoke into the sky.
