The Splendid Fairy Wren is a gorgeous bird and we were delighted to see them in Australia during mating season. The males look like this one. But once in a while there is a male in bright shades of blue, apparently preferred by the ladies! I thought the brown ones were also deserving of painting, so I did this little ink and wash.
